A cool king-knight checkmate, but why did black move their pawn if they saw the checkmate coming?
why didnt black take white's knight with his pawn

The king couldn't move as it was blocked in with all the open squares controlled by white. The rook was blocked by the king and bishop. The bishop was blocked by the king and the pawn. The g4 pawn was blocked by the g3 pawn. Black moved the g3 pawn because it was the only move he could legally play.
that was one of the best puzzles I have seen in a long time!

This is great. I think I would miss this over the board because, down so much material, I would be looking too hard for stalemate.
