    Previous move was probably the Knight from g7/f4 to e6, threatening the Queen but leaving the defense of the h5 square.  Hence the 'oops.'

    Those rated highly need to stop poo-pooing the Sunday puzzles.  Yes, if your 2000+ this likely didn't teach you anything.  Plenty of people on this site CAN learn from such a puzzle though.  They're not always for you.

    Thank you Kyle - my sentiments exactly.  We were all beginners once.  If people find the Sunday puzzle too simple they should try the Saturday puzzle instead.

    And if people say this can never happen in a real game, I had a 7-move game against the Dutch defence that ended with a mate similar to this one.  It's a tactic to watch out for.
