what was that??
this is my first time being on 3rd page, but still not the most challenging puzzle
Just curious... what exaclty was black's previous move? Got to be moving the g or f pawn otherwise the game would've been over by now, which is pretty dumb since he could've taken a free queen, right? This whole "puzzle" is one big joke that can never happen for real. LAME...
Previous move was probably the Knight from g7/f4 to e6, threatening the Queen but leaving the defense of the h5 square. Hence the 'oops.'
Those rated highly need to stop poo-pooing the Sunday puzzles. Yes, if your 2000+ this likely didn't teach you anything. Plenty of people on this site CAN learn from such a puzzle though. They're not always for you.
Fool's Mate ??
I was thinking there must be a queen sac n stuff, when I realised the bishop move checkmate :O
Thank you Kyle - my sentiments exactly. We were all beginners once. If people find the Sunday puzzle too simple they should try the Saturday puzzle instead.
And if people say this can never happen in a real game, I had a 7-move game against the Dutch defence that ended with a mate similar to this one. It's a tactic to watch out for.
I mean jackass checkmae
this is a basic mate. everyone should know this.
I made it!
ittok me a few seconds . why so simple......
