nice, but why not 5.Kb6?
It would threaten check mate and if he moved rook to check again you could move Bishop in the way and it would be protected by king. I think it'd be the quickest way to mate and whatnot. Seriously, why not 5.Kb6? And if black moved rook to rank 8 then bishop could easily be put on g8 making it safe for pawn to promote.
I'm staring at it more and more and i think i understand why it's better to sac bishop for the sure queen. but still... i mean kb6 would lead to rook on the 8th rank and then bishop could maybe guard pawn but it couldn't guard pawn and stop the black pawn from promoting. i guess that's why the bishop sac makes it best.
argh second! missed it by a second
not bad... pretty long puzzle
why cant you just move the pawn up the h-file?
what a weird little pickle
there were more ways to get a queen.. besides.. this what he author would have done.. i dont agree with this

My thoughts exactly.
I don't agree with this either, I believe advancing the pawn up the h file is a quicker route to a queen and has the off chance that you still can have your bishop depending on your opponents moves. neither does it require a detour to sac your bishop on the 4th, had the rook gone Rh8 at that time you would have lost both your pawns
Now thats what I call a nightmare of a solution, enjoyable but I was nowhere near this one. For all you "easy" or "simple" lovers, eat your heart out!

The king must protect the 8th rank. If 5.Kb6 then 5...Rc8 and black prevents the pawn from promoting.
Archdevil is right, and the king and bishop alone are not a mate threat.
sceneasssasin posted good notes.. not like some people say First!Second!Fourth!.. kind of *** :-P
cool

After 5Kb6, 5..Rc8 and white loses
