WARNING: DO NOT SCROLL DOWN - ANALYSIS BELOW
Analysis time! (This is a Sunday puzzle, so little annotation is needed.) [Posted 6 minutes before MeTristan]
Every move is forced in this puzzle
#1.THE Rook checking the king to force HIM TO CAPTURE THE ROOK
#2.After the king captured the rook move the queen to b8 checking to force him to give a rook back.
#3.After the queen captures to rook the king will be in check again so the king needs to find a safe place so the only place is moveing the king to h7...
#4. Easy mate in one...queen to g8#
#2 is wrong.
The red words.
Pretty easy one.
I think these puzzles, even though improve one's chess abilities to some extent (miniscule), are not useful anything beyond that. The reasons I feel are as follows-
a) First clue is already told - Mate in 4 (Never know this detail in actual games)
b) The white king is vulnerable to a rook check. Hence if we play a move which does not check the black king immediately, it cannot be a mate in 4 (because a rook check can increase the number of moves).
Given the above two, its only a matter of finding how to keep giving checks to the black king, hence this puzzle is not too useful.
last chance for what?
#2 is right MeTristan
#2.After the king captured the rook move the queen to b8 checking toforce him to give a rook back.
although its just a delaying move if u want to stay alive longer thats the forcing move
