can someone please explain why after 1. Bxh6+, the rook doesn't just take the bishop?

Good Puzzle, but what if at first move of black instead of king?
rooks play at Rxh6 game might move towards opponents.
6.Rxh8...Kxh8 7.Qf6+...Kh7 or Kg8 8.Qg7# also works or correct me if not
