I guess checkmate is checkmate. However, I agree that 2.QxG6+, pxg6 and Bxg6++ is far prettier.
why doesnt qxg6 work then bx#
wait, its Monday, so shouldn't the puzzle be a little more difficult? Monday is taking the role of the Sunday puzzle! TIME AND SPACE ARE GOING CRAZY! WHAT IS THIS WORLD COMING TO?!?!?!?
If I could only get that kind of position in a real game! Lol. Maybe against a complete novice.
easy one, but nice to see a "randesvous" of many games I played myself... :)
Is it just me, or have the Daily Puzzles the past week or so been exceptionally easy?
nice but simple mate
still in the opening, so courious about the puzzle's start position. perhaps white pushed his pawn to e5, chasing the knight to c7. inexplicably, tho, black captures two moves later with f6xe5, instead of using the knight at c7.
Exactly. Bad puzzle. 2.Qxg6 is fine.
It works, but the move they suggest is checkmate!
Back to the basics!!!
I would rather have a Queen in my face instead of a bishop.
This is sometimes called the "fool's mate."
If the second move is not unique, the puzzle is considered as "dual", which doesn't necessarily means "bad". If the first move is not unique, the puzzle is "cooked", which is bad. In our case we have a dual solution; it's just that the interactive interface doesn't support it.
