This is brilliant.  It took me a minute, because I thought I would advance the pawn and use the bishops to force check.  I got it wrong, and I figured planning to advance the pawn was the best move.  Nice work on White's part.

it makes n0 sense.... ill just sac my r00k and the bish0p and knight will be 99% draw under FIDE-50 m0ve rule because its just very hard t0 mate with 0nly th0se pieces...

With correct play, a KBN vs K endgame that is not immediately thrown away (for example, a hanging Knight trapped by the enemy King at the edge of the board) can be won in 33 moves or less (source: Muller and Lamprecht, Fundamental Chess Endings). It's a good endgame to practice even though it occurs infrequently in actual play: it teaches you how to coordinate your pieces for maximum effect --- in this case, control of squares to drive the enemy King to mate in either of two corners. I'm not great at it, but I can win it within 50 moves.

Q vs R is also normally a won endgame, but I haven't practiced that as much yet. Hmm, sounds like I've got some homework to do... Smile
