Is it possible to force a check mate on a open board with a bishop and a knight? In this puzzle black could take one bishop and then sacrifice the rook for the queening pawn. I am not sure if white can force a win at that point.

Can't you just go B+N vs K?

nice one

Kxe5 is not right
----------------------------
Black drops his rook if he takes the pawn, plus the diagonal barrier is set and the knight free to roam.
Kxe5 is correct. If Kxg6 then Bc2+ and white takes the rook. If the King takes no pieces, then it's impossible to prevent the pawn from queening and black ends up against a queen and two other pieces.

i never would take the Bb3 with the Rb8 ... because it´s difficult to mate with bishop and knight ..
I agree. I would say it is imposible to mate with bishop and knight.
Black should have waited for the pawn and exchange it. Forcing a draw

Pretty straightforward, not many options to choose from

Mating with a bishop and knight is a well known endgame. It is possible though not intuitive, it's something you have to learn
creative_artist
it was really a nice plan .it contains planning as well as stratgedy

Guys, Stop spamming nonsense.
Knight and bishops is a certain mate. And you could have known this if took the time to simply google it.
Anyway, Genius puzzle if you ask me.
