Yeah, there's no way to know castling is legal without having seen the game in total. Besides, this is an easy win either way; you hardly need trickery.

Silly puzzle. Very unrealistic. Just how many people have ever reached such a position, so deep within a game, without castling - or without having forfeited the ability to castle. Ridiculous.

Yeah, I tried every possible move outside castling, then started frustratedly at the puzzle for about 30 seconds before realizing.
you could have removed the knight but you wanted the hard one this is too much thinking
Knight is guarding e2 square! :)
