Would you please explain why do not play g5 to h8? Thank you.
Why do we need to explain this again when this has been explained already more than once in the previous comments?
I enjoy these puzzles, but every puzzle has so many people putting forward a better answer, which is always wrong. Todays culprit is Nxh7+ Qd8orQe7# - and no matter how many times people politely try to point out their error and explain why their answer is wrong, you still get post after post proclaiming Nxh7 leads to mate in two - NO IT DOES NOT. It makes my teeth itch watching how many people can write but cannot read.
you can do this in 3........ knight takes rooks pawn, then queen check. then queencheck again.. kg7+ rxg7. Qe7+ Kg8. Qe8+ mate
But what happens on 1...Kg8?
nice smothered mate!
