Note: Pawns are going south.  Hi, I played this position in a game, but couldn't pull off the win.  I never recorded the PGN, but the position stuck in my mind (right after a rook for passed pawn trade).  It seemed to be an win, but with no idea of how to go about the position, I could only watch as the pawns went further and further down, my king denied enterance to overwhelm him, and me having to settle for a draw.  Well  least a draw was the best result against him that day =).  What do you suggest to win this?  My endgames are terrible!

Its from my perspective, so the pawns are going south.  The rook trade in there is a hint.

In this postion, whose turn is it? Black or White? I cannot tell because you hinted as after a Rook for a Pawn trade. Additionally if you remembered this position, maybe it is your turn and you were thinking harder.

I see... So trying to seperate the pieces from eachother could have led to success?

Its white to move.  It says it below the diagram.  The last 4 moves played were f7 - Rxf7 - Kxf7 - Kb6.  I edited and said the pawns are going south, the reason the rook for pawn trade being a hint that blacks pawns are going south, is because if his pawns were going north (and mine in the other direction), black would have just traded rook for a 5th or 2nd rank pawn, which doesn't make much sense.

well you need to hold up the pawns, and get your king into the action, and then force the enemy king away.  If the pawns cant move, and they arent defended, then you can just take them with your king. 

Yeah I understand, during the game I was trying to make threats to the pawns, rather then trying to get my king in there until it was too late =(.  Thanks for the advice again.
