In an endgame with B+B v. B+R would the pair of bishops tend to equalise the superiorty of other sides rook. How do I check end game databases to see other games with this same set up. Also would appreciate any opinions about this type of end game. am currently playing this game with my freind so I don't want to use anything that may be considered cheating or unethical. I beleive endgame databases are legal to use while playing echess or am I wrong
Does that mean I can't look at former master games where this has occurred?
Anything that gives you the best move the for current position (or position very similar) is not allowed and considered cheating.
Reviewing master games, regardless of how closely their position resembles yours, is ok and considered standard practice. This is because you're not given the best line and all other lines as an endgame table base would have.
Basically all reference stuff is ok, like master games, ECO or other opening books etc are just fine. I think this site has an opening explorer on it anyway.
Since the TBs only go up to 5-6 pieces, I doubt your current position (or even a close one) is listed. If you want to find some artical written about B+R vs R+R or even if you wanted to consider R vs B it's ok to read the article and review any master games.
Also btw you are not actually allowed to solicit opinions on oncoming games through these forums...
