The position below could have arisen in one of my OTB games. How should the game end?
Black can try 1...g5, but it seems white has an easy way out.
Black can allow white to play h2-h4, not much is changed, I think. The ending looks flat equal.
Don't waste your Wind!...
Why don't you go to the yard and play with your marbles? We are talking about chess here, in case you didn't notice.
What I meant to say was "Black wins?"
( On further investigation: It's a draw.)
Yes. 1...g5 is Black's best try.
2. fxg5? f4 wins for Black, but (as pfren pointed out) 2. e6! holds the draw.
My Stockfish says 1...g5 2.fg5 f4 is a draw as well, but this is of no great importance: why make things complex when 2.e6 is simple and good?
If what Stockfish says is Not! important then Why? mention it!
Why don't you try solving the problem yourself or is that beyond your Pea Brain!
If you desperately want to attact attention, then do try making comments less idiotic than that. Regards.
So 2., fxg5 f4 is a draw as well?
In that case, I'm very glad I avoided this pawn endgame.
I stayed in a same-coloured (black-squared) bishop endgame instead. That was also completely drawn but my opponent found a way to lose it.
"If you play out the games, funny things will happen. Fisher knew that" I don't know who said it, but it's definetly true.
Which way are black's pawns going?
Duh. White wins. Zugzwang.
