Hi,

I would like to work with the Team to develop our endgame.  This will go a long way into improving our personal chess strength as well as our Team results.

Maybe a good place to start is with: Understanding The King

To start, let's take a look at a critically important endgame that happens a lot:

White wants to Queen and Black wants a draw.

Can White Improve his play?  To understand we need to know the basic knowledge of Opposition.

This is a good instructive puzzle.  Newbies should notice that the king should stay in front of the king.  They should also know that this next position is a draw for black or a win for white if it is the OPPONENT'S move.  Try to move into this position in a king and pawn endgame.

Basic rule of maintaining the opposition, but its critical that this is understood.
