at the moment i'm playing an endgame of which my opponent immediately saw that it would end in a draw. i did not see this and it annoys me that i didn't.

so my question is: what are good book/websites on endgame?

or perhaps someone here can help me get a general idea of the endgame philosophy(just like control of the center is one in the opening)

since all the endgame knowledge i have is only on specific positions i'm looking for something general, something that will help me in (almost) all endgames.

The best book I've found for novice-through-master strength players would be Silman's Complete Endgame Course. The course is laid out by increasing strength, giving your the ideas and techniques needed at your particular level of performance.

Without question the Silman book is the best -- easy to read & understand.
