Sorry that this puzzle is a bit late! Its just that I was on the beach and I don't had the book. So here it is and the answer to puzzle #2:

ANWSER: B! which is 1. Bc4! while 1. Bb1? looses because it looses a tempo, and tempos are the most important parts of such an endgame! So 1...Kf6 2. Bg8! so that white doesn't looses a tempo, the bishop can't get attacked by the black king! so white moves his bishop which should move anyway in the next move! 2...Ke5 3. Kg7 3...Kd4 4. Kf6 4...Kc3 5. Ke5 5...Kb2 6. Kd4 6...a2 7. Bxa2! 7...Kxa2 8.Kc3 and white has his draw!

Just a reminder: The RULES: Post answer in WHITE color! And from now on, I will ask everybody who writes in non-white color to delete their post! And to every answer, you will have to give ANALYSIS!

Now the PUZZLE:

Is it possible for black to reach the h8 corner?

A) Yes. Its a draw.

B) No, black looses.

Yes, it is a win for White...and the var is quite cute (suffice it to say that the Black pawn plays a decisive role [for White, that is]).

I once almost had something very much like this happen to me in a tournament game.  Fortunately for me (I was Black) I had no pawn, so I was able to draw.
