My tournament went fine (thanks for the tips) but I did lose a few games because of my endgame.

If anyone has anyone tips on endgames it would be really usefull to my game.

I have two books i like:

'Endgame strategy' by Shereshevsky

'Silman's Complete Endgame Course' by Silman

Maybe I'd start with the latter.

- don't be in a hurry (unless both players are rushing pawns)

- move the king to the center to be part of the action

- prevent counterplay (lock in bishop or remove squares for opponent's knight)

- create two weaknesses in the enemy camp

- take care of your passed pawns, move connected passed pawn together, keep the king with it (usually)

These are a few tips that i've picked up from around the place, books, people, forums, experience etc.

-if your up in points look to exchange pieces (usually) but only try to exchange pawns once all enemy peices (rooks, knights, bishops and queens) are removed

-pawns on the boards edge can prove tricky to manouver, especially when it(they) are the last pieces on the board aside from kings; if your slightly down on points then try to manipulate ur opponent so that they have one pawn on the 'a' or 'h' files, and get ur king in front of it; u can almost always get a stalemate

-in the endgame more then any other time in the game your attacks need to be extremly precise. Everymove should have some threat, however small, whether it is a check, attaking a lose peice or simply freeing up you last knight.

-do  not check for the sake of checking; often ur opponent will get an extra move to position their king; you need to be able to follow up every check with a solid move.
