    isn't 4.Qh8 is checkmate?

Right I didn't notice that, thnx heatsh.

    Another puzzle:

Look in move list for alternates, the solution is NOT exactly forced.

EDIT: The knight combination in analysis can be used many other times than done in analysis,  for example in the second "blue" subline, instead of Kf7 white can play Ne6 and get the mate in 2, it can be stopped by continuing checks with the black rook, it won't last forever, sorry for the mistake.

    after 1. ..Rg8 white has a quicker win: 2.Rxg8+ Kxg8 3.e8=Q# or e8=R#

Also, #1 is mate in five after 3. ...h2+

    Another one:

This is simplest possible mate, others in move list. All mates depend on black moves.

    Those last two were nice.

I didn't solve the second to last one though that called for Kf7, I tried g6 but it wasn't as good as the correct move.

The first and second had some mistakes, so I'm just happy you liked the others=D

    Mate in 5.

"emtofaan", in #9 is your solution the only one? CAN YOU FIND A SECOND SOLUTION TO YOUR DIAGRAM #9?  Hint: mate with the Bishop instead of with the Q (5.Bg7 checkmate).

    2.Kf7  c2

    3.Bf8  c1=Q

    4.g6+  Kh8

    5.Bg7#

I already knew it had other answers, but the one I posted was the easiest (in my opinion(lol)).

    Thanks for the note anyway!

Mate in 4, alternates in move list.

"emtofaan": IT IS NOT MATE IN 4.  IT IS MATE IN 5 as shown in your move list.

Analysis mate in 5, but the mainline solution is in 4.

    Try this one:

Hey, "emtofaan". Your mate in 4 is not a solution because Black has a way of avoiding mate in 4.  Helping White get a mate in 4 is not a solution.

    SirDavid

In fact, there is a mate in 4 present in the position.

    1.Nc6+ Ka2 2.Kc2 Ka3 (2...h3 3.Bb2 followed by 4.Nb4#, 2...a3 3.Nb4#) 3.Bb2+ Ka2 4.Nb4#

    1.Kc2 also works.
