Hello everyone!
So, here is my problem- I have a class tomorrow, and it's on endgames.
My fellow teacher and I are looking for an easy to understand, basic Endgame to show the kids what a normal Endgame looks like. It would preferrably go to checkmate. Please help me by leaving an example as soon as possible!

It is for checkmate material you're looking, try for king + two rooks against a lone king for a easy start. And gradually you will go for king + queen against a lone king, then king + rook against the king. The latter will be a little bit tricky, but doable for a beginning course. It's my suggestion.
Sorry, It seems I misread your post...

Here it show the basic patterns for checkmate.
Thanks a lot yall, I ended up using tonydal's position, because I've already gone over the beginner checkmates (K+R, K+R+R, K+Q+R, K+Q), and I think the K+P vs. K is a fairly simple Endgame pattern to learn.
I think it's also good because it shows the importance of moving your king into position first (guaranteed, most every kid will want to play e4 right away!).
Btw, aren't you a little young to be a teacher...?

Heh... the secret's out!
I volunteer as the beginner coach for a nearby club. They only have two coaches, and three levels of skill for the kids; beginner, intermediate, and advanced. They needed some help, and I was in their advanced class last year (it wasn't advanced enough for me to go through again), so I asked them if I could help, and here I am. Besides, I'm working on my ability to teach. Because the club I teach at is half an hour away, I'm looking to start a club closer to my home. I'm already teaching a co-coach that can help me.
Tonydal, oddly enough, at least half of the kids moved the King up first. I have high hopes for these kids... high hopes indeed.
Yes, that is impressive! They sound like a talented bunch.
Indeed they are. The best thing is, they acctually want to be there! That makes it so much easier for me, and it raises their improvement levels quite a lot.

easy, just get the opposition and outflank, right? You should also challenge them with 2 bishop and king vs king checkmate. They sound really talented, those kids, moving the king up first.
Well, I would, but We're into our "second quarter" if you will. We have begun teaching the Tactics, such as Pins and Skewers. Tomorrow we teach Forks, and I'm excited about it!
