When should one really diving into end games?

I have read bruce Pandolfini endgame course several times as well as Jeremy Silman's end game course.  Those cover the basics.  When should one start studying more?

I had an instructor about 10 years ago who told me to make a database of all my games and for each game record the reason of loss or the part of the game which I got into a losing position.  I have noticed that, I very rarely go into end games.  Even if I do, I run into mop up situations or I inherited a losing end game from a bad middle game.

I was told that if I don't run into end games, It will be quite useless to study because I will forgot most of the things I studied without actually using in real life.

That's is one person's opinion.  Another person's opinion is that end game knowledge should greatly impact middle game decisions and thus everyone should study it even if you rarely play end game??

So what do you think?  When should one start investing time into end game?

I dive into endgames with material advantages, or a much stronger pawn structure.

well, joe... if you went though silman's endgame course.  you'll remember that he breaks him material into chunks for new to advanced readers.

have you got it All Mastered?  well then I would be pretty impressed- I think he gets pretty deep by the end of the book.

on the other hand, if you losing before you get to a middlegame; you Have to address those issues, I think.  Espacially if you've mastered silman's advanced topics.

... I could imagine an amateur not having to Ever get beyond pandolfini/silman.

on the other hand, I get the feeling that the professional and those with professional aspirations ought to reach out to their coach to get personal advice from a strong chess player that really understands where they stand in chess.
