White to move - why did black resign?

Black may have decided to resign for any number of reasons... spousal, or infant neglect, personal hygeine etc. But surely he had this game?

Actually the game isn't all that clear. Black definitely has an edge after Rxb7, but it's not so great an advantage and to an untrained eye it might even seem like a losing position.

Yeah, it seems a little unclear --

At a glance I don't see any infiltration points for the white queen or weaknesses to attack -- so if that's true black can simply double his rooks on the a file and then maybe the 2nd rank when he should be winning.

Sometimes loosing you queen (even for compensation) can be a shock -- maybe with a lot of games going on all he saw was that the queen was lost and resigned.

It's very unclear - after the exchange it's pretty much even anyways. My guess is black resigned after seeing something unclearly - or queen shock.

"And black is sure to crush white with a decisive 0.34 pawn advantage. Maybe..." It's got to be worth a go...

Evaluations are given in terms of a pawn.  Positive numbers are in favor of white and negative numbers in favor of black.  .34 would usually mean white is ahead (nearly) a third of a pawn but from the context cyp was saying black had a small edge -- direct from the cpu would have looked like (-0.34)

Fractions of pawns are accounted for by factors such as space, activity, king safety, weak squares, etc as determined by the programer, GM consultant, and lots of testing.

In spite of all this computers often don't give accurate evaluations for the endgame.  Also anthing up to .25 is given as = with .34 as a small edge += which even GMs could mess up and loose/win this position from either side.
