cool, i might have to join
Wow another immature child. He he. Im drunk. Can I be like you?
happy holidays
what if we're stoned?
i don't drink much at all, i just puff the sweetleaf.
Recently I played for 16 hours straight , drank 2 superb bottles of Chablis , partook of an exotic cheroot , fell on the floor a few times and won all around me. This is the total truth , except perhaps for the last bit ....
David Byrne. Cheers , hic .
Simply imbecilic is the notion that the desire to alter one's state of mind is inherently immature. Your condescension is unappreciated, Wojytla (this coming from a man who doesn't drink <edit>or take drugs</edit>, by the way).
Wojytla , you sure can be like me and here is how:
1.Open a Bottle of Labatts Blue
2. Drink it
3. Play Chess
4.Repeat Steps 1-3 until you think Chess is Missile Command, then stop
ROFLMAO! Thanks for the early morning laugh! Is it possible that the biships are the missiles that come out of your base, and you have to shoot those darn pawn thingy-s that are slowly advancing around in circles above you? And do you hear Rush playing (as according to the hit TV show "Chuck", Rush is the music of the Missile Command universe (I believe that was the band.))
Brewing beer kicks ass! I brewed a really good IPA a couple of years back and my apartment smelled delicious for like 2 months. Watch out that your valve is working properly. I left for work one day and my roommate went home early to find the carboy hissing like crazy. It almost blew up. We had to put in the emergency valve which is bigger to relieve the pressure.
I don't know about you guys...alcohol and weed make my wife beautiful. I'm joining the group did I say wife...no honey I meant 'life'...
wow, amen
there's too much talk of people putting each other down for their preference in state of mind while playing chess.
i for one play better stoned, because when sober, i overanalyze, and try to move too fast.
when stoned though, i relax, my thoughts do not become rushed by my anxious mind, and i can make diligent moves that maintain a proactive state of mind within myself.
why are we imbecilic to do what we choose?
LOL! great topic. As for me, the only way I would ever play drunk again is if everyone else was and it didn't count toward my rating
I actually have a framed position above my desk right now with a caption "This is why we don't play Chess while drinking", where I threw away aan easy win with an absolutley stupid move while enjoying the drink. A humiliating (for me) and comical (for everyone else) mistake. I'll see if I can find a way to post the position on my profile. Give me a few days Now 12-9-08
This is a fairly regular occurence for me - sure, my rating suffers (quite drastically in some cases) but whatever. I can get it back up to what it was, at least, without too much trouble when I'm sober. Also, 1 minute games are fine when inebriated, as long as you're not so drunk that you forget to move, as I've done before.
And welcome to the looser thread. WTF?

It is exactly that. It is immature to now have the courage and fortitude to face the world as we are. Your ridiculous comment shows just how far we have to go. Relativism is dangerous as are comments like yours.
I guess this post shows the ridicuous nature of some chess players who fancy a romanticized view of being immature and patently ridiculous.
Chess drunk has become one of my favourite hobbies
Pardon? You seem to have strung together unrelated phrases. What does Relativism have to do with this? If you're going to be prescriptive and condescending, at least try not to expose your own stupidity so blatantly. There's nothing 'ridiculous' about silentfilmstar's comment, it's just a logical statement.
The relativism is saying there is nothing wrong with altering ones mind. I was hoping people who claim to be "logical" would see that but if they did than they woudl have to admit they are wrong. Since you have a problem acknowledging somethign self evident let me be even more clear. It is wrong to alter ones mind in that fashion. To say it isnt is relativism. If you need an explanation on what relativism is than please ask. I say enough things to be insulted for but to be insulted for something that clear is a bit odd.
