Hello, all...new to the site myself. Was just curious to know what some of your user names came from or what they mean? Mine is quite simple - my dad was from Czechoslovakia (pronounced "check-o-slo-va-kia") which is where the Czech comes from, and M8 is short for "mate" - Czech M8

Monalisa, I was reading your profile page and I have a question. Why are you leaving at the conclusion of your present games...gone soon...if I may ask?

I'm a craps dealer at a casino and in craps the number 11 is called "yo" and is very popular for people to bet on, so they all scream "yo dice"!!

I have a rough time deciding nicknames for use on chess sites, so I look to song titles to provide me with the answer...hence, mine is from an old AC/DC song ( on the "For Those About to Rock We Salute You" CD).  Plus, it sums up what you are trying to do to your opponent and his position!!

Mine's just the first letter of my first name and then my last name.  It's what I use as my school email login so it's easy to remember.  When I first signed up on this site I didn't expect to be playing often, so I chose it for this reason.  Now that I do play here frequently though I wish I could change it to something more interesting/expressive of myself.

Mine is one of the main characters from a British comedy "Only Fools and Horses ", and as my name is Rod I have been called that since my football days.

Bone orchard is slang for a grave yard.  I got it from an Elvis Costello song I like, Beyond Belief.       " I hang around dieing to be tortured, you'll never be alone in the bone orchard."

I'm a Sci-Fi fan and Bladerunner is a classic movie starring Harrison Ford. It was adapted from a book by the same author who wrote "Minority Report" starring Tom Cruise. I believe the author's name is Phillip Dick, but I'm not sure.

Fun, interesting topic.

Mine's a holdover from sea kayaking discussion boards.  Have been around the water all my life.  Could swim 5 + miles when I was a kid.   Canoing, fishing, skuba, general boating in the early years on the East Coast.  USN, body surfing, free diving for abalone, sea kayaking, in adult years on the West Coast.

Runs in the family, actually.  My wife put herself through college as a life quard.  My daughter is doing that too.  She was also on the U of O women's water polo team.  My son and I used to go to the lakes and just explore around by swimming them for hours at a time.

"Do Android Dream of Electric Sheep" by Philip K. Dick

Mine is simply the first e-mail address name I ever had.  Easy to remember.
