NO!

Chess is for sober people, however you often see beer, i don't think you should.

Unfortunately, this appears to be true (unless you like waking up the next day wondering how your games took such a bad turn).

But, there is something appealing to playing chess non-sober.

I bet some people literally play better drunk. I've heard stuff about people performing certain tasks better when they're drunk.

I've noticed that have a more agressive style and I am more bold when I play drunk. But I fall for traps way too often.

Beer pong, bowling, pool and darts are four things that I can come with that drunk people are typically better at.

Beer tends to slow me down a bit.  I prefer crystal meth.  It tends to keep me alert.....for days on end.

Well All righteeee then!

Seriously, you don't have to get drunk. There is nothing better than sitting with a good friend playing OTB and sipping a good burbon, scotch, or whiskey.

I'm always in for a beer, and I'm always in for chess.
So chess with a beer is great.

My game doesn't improve but hardly suffers after a few beers. My opponent is always underestimating me so I win just as much. The only problem is a lack of concentration, I don't really want to think so it's mostly up te tricks (after a few more) positional play suffers less than tactical play and Im a positional player, more intuition less thinking.

I have found:

stoned, I sometimes do well and sometimes not so well;

drunk, I always do badly (it is fun though--especially blitz, appropriately enough I guess).

i designed and have been slowly crafting a new version of chess thats good to play when smashed - its called "flicksy chess".

basically you line your armys up and each player gets a chance to try and flick one of their pieces into the opposing army. Its a mixture chess and small scale bowling

- me and my mate Ritch have been playing it for years. Not to blow my own trumpet but i'd say i'd have a ranking of about 2000 - 2100ish. Ritch has skill but he lacks heart, plus he has little spindly girly hands and he owes me money. I hate him, i hate him so much.

Lose a peice, take a shot.  Not for the faint of heart.

I know I made that double sacrafice for a reason, I just can't remember what it was.
