Here is a game that my brother fell for(He is only 6).  See if it will work on anyone you know.  It is exactly how we played it.

I think he is referring to the fact that you are playing a six year old and that perhaps more experienced players would not have fallen into the trap.

I on the other hand think it is fantastic that you are playing chess with your little brother and applaud your posting in that it is instructive to all beginners.

Amen to the last 2 posts. ColinH, good job fer taking part in the community and fer posting in the FUN WITH CHESS forum... it seems that a few members have fergotten that fact, what it is like to be learn chess and the excitement of shared community, that people are of all different ages, and fergotten their manners.

My dear ol ma used to say, "If ye can't say nothin nice, keep yer damn mouth shut!"

I got a kick out of watching that game unfold. I am a beginner and while I understand how the pieces move a little better than De-Lar's wife, I struggle with understanding the effect that moving my pieces will have moves later. This post demonstrated to me how to make your opponent (albeit a 6-year old one) move how you want them to or anticipate how they will respond.

i don't suppose it would work on someone else... because of the poor play by black and somwhat less poor play by white, but spotting mates would surely help a bunch of people... so it has some value... to your little brother, maybe he shall become a young pridogy! :)
