I play chess because it is a game that is played by people all over the world. When we play each other all political, racial, and religious differences become invisible.

I play chess because it's really, really fun and involving. The history is intriguing and the passion put in by other players is inspiring.

I play chess because it is so challenging to me.  It makes me think, is a good way to spend free time, and I enjoy seeing my game improve, as slight as the improvement is.  The history of the game is fascinating.

I play chess because it helps me make friends and make my mind active even when i turn 70+ just like in OTB tournaments i saw a very old man and still became the champion of the tournament he is very good too, i bet his rating if he join this site will be 2500+. I also have fun playing and making each of my ratings improve. I want to improve more and practice more; chess is my passion ^_^

I play chess because:  It helps me think beyond my normal thought process, it excersises my brain, there is no rolling of the dice, It's a what I am capable of doing on the chess board.  Not to sound selfish or self deserving, but when I am involved in a game, it's all about me and making the best move.  I like it because it promotes good sportsmanship, always a warm greeting and always a "thanks for the game, it was a pleasure" win or lose.  Chess to me has become more than a game, It is a very big part of my life, 3rd only to God and my family.  

i play chess for many many reasons. First of all its a lot of fun, and its also makes me relax. Chess i also played all over the world, and its interesting to play with peoples from every corner on this planet. Its also helps getting better in consentration, creativity and much more. Chess also has a great history that is really interesting to read about. And last, but not least: Its always fun to compete.
