The idea is to post a line or lines from a song, and see if anyone can identify the lyrics.  Here's one that should be easy:

"And the meek shall inherit the earth"

Here's one that is not so easy...

They say that lifes a carousel
Spinning fast, you've got to ride it well
The world is full of Kings and Queens
Who blind your eyes and steal your dreams
Its heaven and hell, oh well
And theyll tell you black is really white
The moon is just the sun at night
And when you walk in golden halls
You get to keep the gold that falls
Its heaven and hell, oh no!

Does it continue 'The savage and honest are dead'? I think it's called 'All the Good Times are Passed and Gone' - don't know who wrote it.

How about 'There's five more acres in the lower forty I've got to plough'?

Can anyone name a rock song that quotes the 22nd Psalm? (and no, it's not something from the Christian Rock genre).  I'll be mightily impressed if you can, by the way (it happens toward the end of the track).

Here's another one (give the source, please):

what happened to our heroes

they seemed to disappear

the singers keep on singing

but they don't sound sincere

The first comes from 2112, Rush and the second is Heaven and Hell, Black Sabbath. I suspect the first one occurs in a few other places as well.

My current favourite:

May I make my fond excuses
for the lateness of the hour,
but we accept your invitation, and we bring you Beltane's flower.
For the May Day is the great day, sung along the old straight track.
And those who ancient lines did lay
will heed the song that calls them back.
Pass the word and pass the lady, pass the plate to all who hunger.
Pass the wit of ancient wisdom, pass the cup of crimson wonder.

And one more (always one of my favorites--and thematic for this site as well!):

The rivers are full of crocodile nasties
and He who made kittens put snakes in the grass. He's
a lover of life but a player of pawns ---
yes, the King in His sunset lies waiting for dawn
to light up His jungle as play is resumed.
The monkeys seem willing to strike up the tune.

They say Im the cutest boy in town.
My car is fast, my teeth is shiney,
I tell all the girls they can kiss my heinie.
Here I am at a famous school,
I'm dressin' sharp and I'm
Acting cool.
I got a cheerleader here wants to help with my paper,
Let her do all the work n maybe later Ill rape her

"They say in chess you've got to kill the queen and then you made it.
Oh I, do you
A funny thing, the king who gets himself assassinated.
Hey now, every time I lose"

Same as Tonydal, a song I like and applicable to the site.
