If people are having fun with them, then fine, but as for me I want to try to get good at regular chess before trying variants.
Though I think sniper or shooting chess might be fun to try. That's where if your piece can capture another piece you can do so on your turn without moving your piece. I'm guessing many of the tactics would be similar but some new tactics would come into play, such as recapturing pawns with other pawns would not be possible.
