I figured I'd jump on the puzzle wagon and start posting some of my favorite puzzles.

Here are the rules:

1.) White must mate in 3 moves.  No exceptions.  Assume that you have 1m30s on the clock and each move takes you 30s to make (whether it actually takes you 30 seconds, 5 minutes, 10 minutes or 10 seconds, just assume it takes 30s).  If you don't mate in 3, it's game over and black wins.

2.) There is only one key move to obtain mate in 3.  (If you find others, please let me know Innocent )

3.) No first key move will result in a check, a capture, or involve the promotion of a pawn.

4.) If no one has solved the puzzle between the time it's posted and the time the next is posted, I'll post the first Key Move (So you'll only have to solve for mate in 2).  If after another post this one still hasn't been solved, I'll post the solution.

Glad you enjoyed it Alicia Laughing  All of the puzzles I'll be posting lean more towards the advanced end.  I love the challenge personally.  I'll have the next one up tomorrow evening.

I got it! May be about 2 min.

The Queen forces Black King into the Dungeon. Closes the gate. And let the Dragon loose for the kill!

Nice puzzle. Had difficulty finding the first move. I knew that the key to the solution is to stop the King from going to "d5" square so I was going for Qd3 but that takes more moves to mate on 8th rank. My next choice was Qb7 and everything just fell in place after that. Eagerly waiting for the next puzzle :-)
