I know it would be a logistical nightmare, but it would be very cool if chess.com some how set up either a totally public, or possable within groups that wanted to have, a virtual chess club. One that works like second life and would take place in a vitual pub complete with you and the other opponent sitting at a chess board. You could sit and play, or get a beer and walk around to diffrent rooms within the pub and meet and challange other players. There could even be tournaments held in there. Everybody could desigh them selves. Winners could get prizes or win credit at the pub. Many other possabilities! It would add new dementions to the term "Live Chess".
Something like that was discussed here:

Well I never saw it.
...Besides, this could be for paying members or only for groups that wanted it, or both. and it doesn't have to be as elaborate or have all the parameters as warcraft or second life. Just a pub, people, communication, and chess sets, etc.
Yeah. Just thought you'd be interested in reading the ideas in that post. I think it'd be fun.
Yes it would be, one could encounter others in a much more enhanced way, but keep it chess orentated.
Like in other chess site I have been long before I joined chess com, that chess site provide s so called: London Social, there members who are interested in socializing and play chess on board could come over, stay 2 one or two days, there they can meet their chessmates or any other members in real. This event happens 2 times a year, late spring and late summer. The gathering place was in a pub (meeting room). That would be cool if that happens here as well. ;)
Good advice
