Just a few days ago I read an article about this person:

Art?  It looks like nothing but painful nonsense.

She says it doesn't hurt. She uses dull knitting needles to trace the patterns. Her skin has the reaction just from fairly slight pressure. The marks disappear in a couple of hours.

But then probably reappear in 15 years.
