Hello,

I recently posted a game here for analysis and got some critizicm for playing 'too undynamically' e.g I didn't create enough complications/problems for my opponent to solve. So I thought I would try to improve that in my next game and I think I succeeded :) The moves played might not always have been the best for the position but it gave my opponent plenty of choices to go wrong and that's what I was aiming for!

 Any comments are welcome. And don't be too cruel because I am very proud of what I would like to call 'my very first at least moderately successfull attacking game' :)

You and your opponent are both to be congratulated! Really a great sharp game -- you made threat after threat after threat.  You missed quite a bit too, I think, but you created such a tactically rich position that's very forgiveable. Run this game through a computer engine and check out all the little tacitical shots you missed along the way... there's room for improvement, but truly this is a super effort at getting and keeping the initiative and just putting your poor opponent thru the wringer. ( Please keep 1279 rated players that play like this as far away from me as possible!   I would never have guessed that rating, (for either of you) looking at this game.)

5...e6  -- "This might look like it defends d5 for some, but as long as the king and rook share the same file there will be tactics that make defence of d5 more difficult!"  The game that follows is a lesson illustrating this idea!

7.Qe2. And Qe2 makes it harder for black to develop, since he will always have to take into consideration that I can push e5  What a great way of thinking your way into your opponent's head to find the moves that make life difficult for him!

7...Nd4 I had calculated on this before playing Qe2 and seen that it would give rise to some complications that I thought might favour me.  Beautiful... you are looking ahead and steering the game toward problems for your opponent. What else?

 But... I must admit I looked at this position and I thought, "what complications -- Nxd4, cxd4 and what the hell his N gets kicked to a lousy square -- what does he think he has? I think this is gonna be bogus..."

8.Nd5!  And I was wrong! Give yourself an exclamation point, they're free... and that's a great move!

And then you just kick his Queen around, threaten to trap it trap it trap it, all the while keeping his King in the center. I think you give up on trapping the Queen a bit soon...

14. Nb4?! why not g4 first, taking away the Queen's flight square...  I'm a lousy tactician unless I bear down and look at position for a lot of time, so take everything I say with a grain of salt, but I'm really sure a little computer analysis will reveal a lot of opportunities from 14. on...

Great work. Very impressive. And doesn't it feel good to be the one holding the handle end of the  whip!

Well, the purpose for black playing ...e6 should have been to prepare Nge7, not to defend d5.  One purpose, but not the only purpose by far, for moving pawns is to free pieces and make them more useful. 

I thought this was a well-thought out game. I would say that the downhill slide started for black when he initated an attack by playing ...Nd4 rather than developing his pieces.  This game is worth studying if you like aggressive play.

Good game, you played much better than your rating. I felt you could have played with more of a definate plan throughout the game, but you created a lot of threats and eventually it was likely with his rating he was going to slip up sometime.
