Hi all,

yesterday I played a 20 min + 5sec game, which I only managed to draw against a much lower rated opponent. To do him credit, I think he played quite well.

I employed the Nimzo-Indian defense, which is quite new to me, but I think I managed to find some improvements in my analysis nonetheless. As required, the analysis was conducted without computer help, so there may still be some serious errors. Please comment on anything you think I could improve, both in the game and in the analysis I give. I would be especially thankful if some experienced practicioner of the Nimzo-Indian commented on my treatment of the opening and early middlegame.

Thanks for your help!

Way outside my ability to comment on the game, except to say that that it was beautiful to watch how patiently, relentlessly, you accumulated advantages to produce a winning position, from which your opponent managed to conjure an escape. Thank you for sharing what to me appears a quality game.

Yeah, you overlooked Rxh6.  You had a won game otherwise

Needs more annotation imho.  Good overall.

Um, more annotation?

I'm sorry and certainly I don't mean any disrespect, but I thought I have given quite a number of long variations with commentary at what I think to be crucial points of the game.

Are you being ironic? Or do you mean more annotation like

"1.d4 occupies the centre 1... Nf6 refuses to play symmetrically but monitors the centre, namely e4" and so forth?

As I'm quite new to this site, I would be honestly interested in an answer to this question.

Regards,

Torkil

I liked 37)...g5, it looks risky, but I think you swap down to a won game. Several possibilities, but assume:

38)Qe5 fxg+ if white recaptures, rook check wins queen

39)Kg3 Qg6

40)Rb8 gxf and I think things work well for black

Wonderful game.
