So I'm in the middle phase of a game with only exhanges made so far and a pending draw offer. Would it be in my interest to accept or do I have any sort of a stronger position over my opponent? Any advice will be greatly appreciated!

 Thanks in advance!

Maybe you shouldn't ask for advice in the middle of the game friend.  Sportmanship and all that.  You could ask the same question against once the game dies.

I totally agree with HotFlow.. you should learn to play your own game.. and if you lose, so what? you can only learn from your mistakes.

Ah, never thought of it that way.. I'm just playing to learn not to compete or anything.. and if I do accept the draw right now I could never tell if it was a good decision or not! I didn't expect specific moves, just whether it makes sense to draw at this point or not.

Well if you do accept the draw just post the game up for analysis and just ask if you should of accepted the draw I'm sure your question will be answered by our resident boffins.  Even if you don't accept the draw and go on to lose you can still post the game up and ask if you could of won from the position.  But it isn't fair to your oppoenent if we tell you you can win or you should accept the draw becuase then it will be us playing your opponent and not you.Smile

Without reference to your game, I would never accept a draw unless I believe there is no chance for me to win (assuming good play by my opponent). If you believe there is a chance you could win your game, why not keep playing? Just because the game is equal is no reason to draw. Would you draw on move 1?

Thanks Loomis, thats exactly the kind of response I was looking for. My game is only an example. I just wanted more thoughts on the art of accepting/rejecting draws, as many a times I've found myself in a confused spot as to whether to accept or not.

For the record, I lost the game. Probably shouldve taken up that draw offer. :)

I saw VampireLestrat was won by time-delay resignation.

You should have accepted the draw.
