Here is one of the worst openings I’ve played and one of the most incredible wins! Happy to hear all your thoughts, comments, suggestions-
OPPONENT 1933 ELO – ME 1877 ELO
2HRS EACH QPF - OFFICIAL TOURNAMENT 05/02/2009
1.D4 – D5 2.C4 – C6 3. NF3 – NF6 (modern Slav opening) 4. NC3 – G6 5.BF4 – BG7 6.E3 – BG4 7.H3 – BD7 8. NXD5 – c X D5 9. QB3 – BC6 10.NE5 – QB6 ( i was very unhappy with my opening at this point, black has very little space.) 11.QXQ – a X Q – 12.NB5 – 0-0 ( castle only solution to improve space and resolve attacks) 13.AD3 – KbD7 14. 0-0 – RA5 15. NxB – B7XC6 ( I believe white loses the advantage like this, remove the double pawn and gives me more space, I recommended after to my opponent playing a4) 16.NC7 – NH5 ( nc7 leaves the knight only a6 to escape, my opponent insists it was correct to exploit my weakness on c6, I think it was a mistake and would have returned the knight to c3, I PLAYED A TERRIBLE RESPONSE, nh5 was a nightmare move….) 17.BH2 – NB8 ( NB8 SHOULD HAVE BEEN PLAYED THE MOVE BEFORE!, stops the knight escaping on a6, also my knight on h5 does not allow me to attempt immediate capture of the night as if I play e5, he attacks simply my knight by playing g4) 18.B4 – RA3 19. RFD1 – B5 20. RD2 – NF6 22.N X B5 – Cxb5 (best solution for white to give the piece for 2 pawns)– 23. BXB5 – RA3 ( rook a3 is strong for me as I stop the a pawn advancing, if they were together I would still lose, later in game this was important) 24. RC7 – NE4 25. RC2 – NA6 26. BXN – RXB ( probably best for white to exchange) 27.B5- RA3 28. B6- RD3 (threaten mate and also open only solution to return to b file)– 29. BF4 – G5 (bishop move was poor g4 much better) 30. BXG5 – RC1+ (here he went mad, sacrifec another piece) - 31. KH2 – NXB 32. B7 – RB1 (holding against rc8) 33. A4 – E5 34. RC5 – NE6 35. A5 – Exd4 36. A6 – BXE5+ - 37. F4 – BXR 0-1
