I need to start looking for counterplay for my opponent before assuming I have a quick win.

I analysed 27 ... Nd5 28. BxN pxB 29. f5 (and if B takes than R sac followed by the other R over to the h-file) but not the simple 27. ... Bb7. I suppose it was rather cowardly of my to invite the draw with 28. Rf2 (instead Rg3 maybe?) but I was all of a sudden very displeased with my position and not thinking straight. I probably should've played 28. Rg3, huh?

Props to batok for holding on & catching me trying to bite off more than I could chew!

I think you could play 20 f5, with the idea of 20... ef 21 Rxf5.  If then 21... Rc5 there's 22 Qg3 ef 23 Ne4+ Kh8 24 Nf6.

It looks like 23 Ne4 (with the idea of Nf6) would win more material.

28 Rfd1 seems to avoid the draw.  Now Black doesn't have a windmill, just a spite check.  And if he plays 28... Nd5, you have 29 Bxd5 Bxd5 30 Rxd5 ed 31 Rxd5 and Black faces deadly problems.

I don't seem to remember why I didn't play 23. Ne4.  I thought I found something wrong with it (what I don't remember) or maybe I just thought my variation was more forcing or something (evdiently not).

28 Rfd1 is a great move!  Thanks for showing me that!

Cheers,

not sure but I think that on move 26, had you taken with the pawn, then Qh6 would have led to a rapid mate.
