Can somebody help out with this game. I am a 1051 on live chess and thought since I took this pawn I could win but I ended up not capitalizing and tying.

It would help if we knew whose move it is! At a glance, if it's white to move you could think about using the pressure on the e-file to your advantage and protect the g-pawn with one manouvre:

 

1. Nxe7 Kxe7

2. f4

The obvious move is to take advantage of the open g-file, and play Rg8, which should probably be parried by g3 (weaking the squares around white's king and allowing play later with h5-4).

 

So:

You've made progress, but there's no clear way to force an advantage, mainly due to three (fairly large) negatives about your position.

First is that your king is stuck in the middle with quite a lot of fire power pointing at him, and the pawn shield protecting him is flimsy. So, you need to do something about that.

Second is that your rooks are disconnected, and your a-rook is out of the game. This can potentially be solved at the same time as getting your king to a safer refuge.

Third, your bishop is very bad. If you could force White to exchange his annoying knight for your next to useless bishop, or somehow improve the bishop's position, then you'd have improved your position overall.

 

So, those are your goals here (since there isn't a concrete attacking plan for you improve your position).

I'd instinctively try to hold the position together, and put the question to the knight by playing 2...Qe6 - the rook is still pressuring the g-file, the improving Re4 with tempo is taken away from White. There are probably other options as well, but I think Black's position here isn't great due to the flimsy pawns, the better coordination of white's pieces and your king being stuck in the centre.

You're right, but I just forgot to take it off the board when I set up the diagram. I was basing the analysis on the original diagram. So, after Qe6 white either plays Nxe7 or b5.

If Nxe7, retakes then white has bxa5, bxa5, Rxa5 Rxa5 Qxa5.

If b5 (probably better given the dislocated nature of black's position), then black's best bet is probably just to get the king out of the centre and to try to connect his rooks.
