I am white and played an ok game against a higher rated opponent until about move 30. Have a look and tell me any better moves you saw during the game.

In my view 24 Bxh6 was a loser because you didn't have any pieces (specifically Rooks) in position to follow it up.  For most of the early part of the game there was one open file (the e file).  One reasonable plan would've been to get your Rooks active on the e file as soon as possible.

Ye. In hindsight I see that if was a very superifcial sacrifice. I didnt even think about playing the open e file!

But you asked about before move 30. I agree with Casual_Joe. 24. Bxh6 was unsound and the open e file should be screaming at you "use me! use me!"

You got one rook side-lined for the game playing 19. Rxa3. Playing a4 somewhere before that would have avoided that.

I think 11. Bxb5+ wins a pawn.

Thanks for the insight. The open file and the sidlined rook were two poor strategic errors. And 11. bxx5 would have won a pawn with tempo! I shouldnt have missed that!

Did you have anything planned if black had played 16....Bxh4?

I also woulda given serious thought to 15.a4. Black has announced he wants to roll you up on queenside. Pa4 shuts down all play there forever.
