Here's a game I recently played. I would like it analyzed so I can see where I can improve. It would also be helpfull if someone knows the opening my opponent played (I've never seen it before). Thanks.

One thing. Generally you should capture towards the center and center paws are more valuable then other pawns. Wich means you should capture with the c pawn instead of your knight on move 8. ... cxd5. Other then that you are playing by general rules and common sense I think.

White's opening is one thing, and one thing only:  horrible :).  But aside from that, from a mental POV your note on move 2 is bothersome.  "Hoping for ..."  Try to NEVER do that.  Make moves that improve your position no matter what he does.  Look for the opponent's best response, and see if you still like your move after that.

A couple things I notice are after Black's 4th move, take a look at your light-colored bishop.  It's miserable.  I would probably have played Bf5, then moved the e-pawn later.  I also would have gone out to e5, not e6 -- if your opponent wants to give you the center, take it!

Take a look also at your 17th move.  Ok, yeah the bishop is attacked.  You probably want to move it.  But why go all the way back to c8?  Be3 looks a lot stronger to me.  Also worthy of consideration is Nxe5, getting two pawns for the knight and your two bishops dominate the board.

At the end -- keep your rook active and get your king to the middle(in general, and it's good advice here).  The opposing bishop can only attack half the board -- your rook is stronger and can do more than just defend a single pawn.

You should not have move your c pawn twice in the opening.

Try to control the center with the d or e pawns on you first few moves.

Try not to open up your queen-side so early as move 7. Develop your pieces first.

Don't move your king-side pawns after castling without a good reason

(example: to prevent checkmate)

After move number 20 black has a better position than white.

(I thought you were playing as white)

If White had played 20 Rad2, Black would be completely tied up.

White's opening is the Polish, or the Orang-utan. At least, it is for one move. His second, 2. b5, is awful. He should play Bb2 fianchettoing his queenside bishop.
