Hello everyone! Here is the game I finished today in which the end-game was very critical. Please take a look and suggest if there was any better variation for white or black in the endgame. Although the real endgame starts from move 30 onwards but unfortunately I don't know how to post the part of the game so posting the full game.   Please bear with me...

    All comments are most welcome!

i think not promoting your pawn to a queen was one of your biggest mistakes..it basically sealed the game for your opponent...because if you could have forced a queen trade there was a good chance of a stalemate..or draw..but im not that good at analyzing games so i hope some one can give you more clear advice

If black plays 49...h1=Q then 50. Qa8+ skewer wins the queen for white.

Hi..... my main interest was your move  31.Kg2 ?

    Idon't think its good

maybe 31.d6 immediatly is much better...where black can play 31...Re8 or 31...Ke8

    for 31...Re8 32.Rd5! Ke6 33.Rc5 if black captures d6 pawn 34.Rf5

if 33...g6 and you will eather take the h pawn or a6 pawn after giving the d pawn at d7  ...end with two pawns up.

And if 31...Ke8 ( he is keeping his rook on the fifth rank protecting the weak pawns , Then 32.f4! must move his rook and then 33.Rd5 with the same idea

    lets take a look :

    32...Re6 33.Rd5 attaking both pawns c5,f5  33...g6 34.Rc5 Rd6  35.Rc7

and white is pawn up..the defference is that  you where a pawn up but that was a weak one (the d pawn)

if he played 32...Re3 instead then 33.Rd5 same idea33...Rb3  34.Rc5 Rb6  35.Rf5 Rd6 and still pawn up..yes it needs alot of work but you keep your advantage

one more thing if instead of 34...Rb6 in the previous variation he played 34...g6 protecting the f pawn..I think still you can give him your d pawn for the h,g, or the a6 pawn and still pawn up

What happened in the game  ...is totally different after 32.d6 Kd7 you cant do the same if 33.f4 to move his rook from the fifth rank then 33...Re2 34.Kh3 ( bad position for the king to prottect your h pawn )34..Rc2  prottecting his c pawn , and after 35.Rd5 g6 prottecting the f pawn

    Infact i liked your move 34.h4!? very intersting ...fighting for the same idea ( moving black's rook from the fifth rank)but he could try 34...Re4  35.Rd5 Rh4 36.Rc5 Rb4 37.Rf5 Rb3 38.Kf4 Rb4  39.Ke5 Ra4 40.Rf7 Kd8 41.Rh7 still winning for white  but needs accurate play .

last thing to say that (  Rd5  ) was played in the game in move 39 but i think it was very bad as he exchange rooks while he is having a very dangerous passed pawn in the h file ..so you have to go to capture the dangerous h pawn while he will capture your d pawn and his king is in the middle of the board

Any way it was  a nice game.. even  at the end when promoting your queen while he cannot promot his queen becase of the check on a8

    good luck

9...Be7 was bad.  It loses a pawn.  Black should play 9...c4 and 10...Nc6.  After 9...Be7 White should play 10.dxc5 Bxc5 11.Qxd5 and win the pawn.  If Black continues with 11...Qxd5, then 12.Nxd5 O-O 13.Nc6 Ra7 14.Bc4 and 15.O-O and White should win this.

    Hi "mbshier" and "billwall",

Thanks a lot for the comments. I got to learn a lot from the variations you have explained.  I can see how I made mistakes early on by not playing dxc5 as well by playing Kg2 rather than pushing the pawn up. Appreciate you analyzing through the game and providing your valuable comments.

My feeling is that at the end of the game, you both play for draws, but you were very lucky because when you promoted your pawn the black's king were lined with the pawn to be promoted by blacks. If not, the game would be a draw. Anyway, you both play well. Nice game.
