Could I have gone for a win?

This is one of the less flashy opening and middle games I have played of late, but the ending is what I am most interested in.  I was frightened of white's possibilities, so I offered a draw.  Ought I have gone for a win?  All comments welcome.

I am only a beginner so my insight does not mean much but I doubt I would have been able to win.

this is just perpetual check at worst with the rooks on the seventh.  Its just a draw nothing more.

right -- my question is that I was worried about what would happen if I tried for a win my stopping him from getting perpetual check.  I chose the draw because the alternative was too unclear.

Sad that I was so focussed on grabbing the pawn that I missed that winner on move 21!  You are right of course; thanks for pointing that out.

Although black has an extra pawn, the massively active white rooks are dominant and blacks pieces are passive - especially the king.  White can easily get the black h pawn and mop up using his king before the black king arrives.  I think white should definitely go for the win here, no question.
And p.s. if black plays other than 4. ... Rf8 then 5. Rh8+ Kg7 6. Rxh5 gets the h pawn and gets a pair of rooks off whichever way black captures

A draw is a good option.. cos the white has many possibilities and if he could not work out something then he can always use the perpetual check card as a last resort. So white either can win or draw whereas black has all win/draw/lose odds. I think draw is fine :)

You are screwed in this position, good thing you got the draw.

From what I can tell, you have a perpetual draw at best. You were winning the entire game, until turn 26 where you moved your pawn to G4.

Instead, I think you should have moved F6 to F5 like so:

It might not look like much, but I think it would give you the advantage. Or at least give you a better position to work with.

Thanks, Hybridy.  I really like 26...f5.  It is a clever way to force white to trade rooks!
