A game I just finished with a new friendly opponent "chessmanjam". After move 25 I was trying to find myself a checkmate with my knight and two bishops, but just couldn't spot one! This lead to my opponent's imminant checkmate that I naively forgot about. Your thoughts, please!

22. Bxc5+! and you can take the Q.

I couldn't find a checkmate with the knight and bishops too. Maybe Rd2+ was better, involving the rook instead of the knight. After his Re2, you can get your knight to check. But I don't know how that would've gone

Ah, you're right! Why didn't I see that!

@KingOfTheCastle - Very true, I regretted that move straight after I made it, but ofc, t'was too late.

I basically agree with the above, but white had a 16)BxBf8 if:

16...d2

17)BxQ with check

if:

16)... Bg2+ 17)Kf2 and of course if

16)... QxBf8 17)RxBe4+ wins the queen

Lol lucky for me that my opponent never spotted any of those, even though I stupidly lost my queen in the end.

when your opponen played 5. Qh5 he/she set up old trap, which usually have played in the start, like this:

1. e4 e5

2. Qh5 g6!

3. Qxe5+ Winning a rook in the corner.

That start is better to learn. Usually Qh5 is weak because then black plays first Nc6 and the Nf6 attacking white Queen with tempo, but in this case it would not work because of mate in f7, so your best moe would have been Qe7, which you played one move too late.
