I felt like I was losing, I had blown a decent material advantage due to miscalculation, then he resigned. Is there something here that I didn't see?

He probably had to go pay the pizza man.

I was once playing a long game, got called to lunch, spent 20 minutes eating, then came back and finished the game.

Not that I can see, your opponent probably just had something else to do...

Yes, 3...Bc5 is a variation! It's called the "Classical Variation" and it's rare but not unreasonable. Booby Fischer played it in serious competition a couple of times. I think 4.c3 is the most common reply

How could 13.dxc6 possibly be better than 13.dxe6 which wins a piece? Your comment after 13...fxe6 indicates that you are not yet awae that you have two minor pieces to his one.

22.Qa6 was a serious mistake  (22...Bxb6! 23. Rxb6 Bxb6 24.Qxb6 Rxf3!). I think you overlooked that your g-pawn was pinned, so that it did not actually defend the Nf6. 22.Nd7 forking both rooks won easily. And after 22...Rxf3? 23/Qxa7 wins for you. Black's resignation is just one of those mysteries
