OK chessnuts, here is a position where I was black. The game was drawn by agreement, but what I want to know is, was there a forced win here, Black being a pawn up? Lets see what you've got people...

Looks like a dead draw to me. All white has to do is keep his rook on b1/b2, and his king on g2/h2 and all his pawns are protected. The black king can't do anything as it's completely blockaded by the pawns.

As Tenna says, it's a draw. Black's king has no way to progress. His rook can't do any damage on it's own. I think if those pawns weren't doubled, one of them on the a-file, it might still be a draw if your opponent knows his rook endgames.

I'm glad you both said that. There's something galling about offering a draw when you are material up, even if it's just a single pawn. Still, better than a loss.

The black king can never go past the 5th rank so he can't make any captures. The rook can't do anything alone
