5. ...Bb4 would have taken this into the normal lines of the Scotch 4 Knights.

Nxd4  (by black) is always a mistake in the Scotch, because the Q gets wedged into the center and is hard to dislodge.

...b6 is odd, to say the least. What does that do to the center?

He played that to gain a tempo on the Q only it seems after getting in Bc5.

14. e5!! is winning I think

If white had played 7. e5 black would have blown off the board.
