I'm interested in any general tips and observations, but my main question is whether it was a good idea to accept the draw by repetition, or play on with Rxf5

39 Rxf5 would be catastrophic for you after 39... e2; taking the draw was definitely the wisest course.

That's what I thought, thanks.  Just had a nagging suspicion I had missed something.
