Any ideas on how the game couldve been even better? I added some questions as notes.
silentiarius
5...Nxd5 is a well-known error. 6.d4, threatening 7.Nxf7 Kxf7 8.Qh5+ secures White advantage. Correct is the pawn sacrifice 5...Na5 6.Bb5+ c6 7.dxc6 bxc6, or avoid this line altogether with 3...Bc5.
Castling queenside was daring. White could have used his advanced pawns better (12.a5, intending b5).
15...Bh3 should be answered with 16.Ne1, followed by Kh1.
20...Nb4, threatening Nc2 and Rd1 would have been strong.
Why not 34...c4?
White resigned too early. 47.g4 makes it hard to convert the advantage.
[edit: typo "20...Nb4, threatening Nc2 and Re1"]
Thanks! I had one question on this one:
"20...Nb4, threatening Nc2 and Re1"
How does it threaten Nc2 and Re1? And cant he then do Qxa7?
Crab-A-Blanca
Because after 20...Nb4, 21. Qxa7 you can come down with Rd1+! , and after Kg2 you can play Qc2!. White can put your king to check with Qa8+, but a better move perhaps would be Qe3, which would be met by Nd3, covering the pawn and putting extra pressure on f2 square.
Play would continue:
24. Nfd2 24...Ne1+
25. Kh3 25...R8xd2
26. Nxd2 26...Rxa1
Black is now a rook up and has a decisive advantage over white.
Remember, white can't play Qxe5 because then it would leave the knight hanging. So he has to play the knight to safety first with 27. Nf3, and black would gladly accept the opportunity to exchange material with Nxf3. Play would continue 28. Qxf3 ...Qxc4 (Nb3 met with Rb1 Nd2 Rd1)
Thanks!
Just now I had a funny game that I totally blew. Perhaps I shouldve attacked the queen earlier..
