In the position in diagram at left does 1.h3 Ngf6 and then 2.Qxh6 look good as it wins a pawn and threatens mate with 3.Qxg7#?
But what reply after Qxr at g3 square please reply.
Indeed that is the reason why White did not play h3 followed by Qxh6: ...Qxg3 (removing the guard)
