I thought I was doing pretty well in this game with the Evans gambit, until I got into time trouble and made lots of mistakes (including allowing my opponent a forced mate!). However, fortunately for me he didn't see it and I managed to get a draw at the end.

I love the Evans Gambit, in the declined line you don't have to defend your b pawn right away. I usually play 5.a4

if they take

5....Nxb4 6.a4 Bc5 7. c3 Nc6 8. d4 exd4 9.cxd4 Bb4+ 10. Bd2 Bxd2 11. Nxd2

and whites lead in development more than compensates for the pawn.

5.b5 is also good

15.d4 was a mistake, 15. c4 looks good to me.

16.Nxd4 might hold on the pawn.

21.Bc3 threating to win blacks knight seems slightly better

I have one that says 5.a4 and one that says 5.b5, I bet the idea behind 5.c3 is to transpose back into the Piano
