This was the shortest game I've ever played. It was played OTB against one of my friends when we were pretty new to the game. You should have seen how red he turned when he realized what he had done.

It has to happen to us all at least once for us to viscerally learn to fear this kind of mate. Should he let the lesson go deeply enough, your friend will never have to endure this humiliation again.

Hey Shpongled monk, If you ever do feel up to a game with me, let me know. There can't be too many psychadelic monks travelling this site and I'd like to play you. I'm not sure if finding games hillarious is a sign of good character or not, but if you like shpongle you can't be too bad :).

Actually, it has never happened to me. The very first thing I learned in chess play (not counting the way the horse moves of course:-) was Fools Mate , and I made it a point from that point on to avoid something like that.
